Technology Deployment Process

The technology deployment process is the process in which new software or hardware is added into your IT infrastructure or existing hardware and software within the system is updated.  This includes installing new software programs as well as equipment like printers, computers, and docking stations for one or more users or systems.

The goal of technology deployment services is to ensure that the newly added or updated hardware and software integrates seamlessly into your IT infrastructure.  The new technology must be able to access files and software within your system to work properly and new software and hardware rarely come ready to do that.  We will make sure that your newly procured technology is integrated to work within your current IT environment and that it is also secured to keep your system safe.

Our IT deployment services include the following steps:

  • IT-Deployment-Services-Chicago-Illinois-scaledAssessment: We will assess your current IT infrastructure as well as your technology needs to upgrade your capabilities.
  • Purchasing: Businesses can take a lot of time researching, evaluating, and testing new hardware and software. Our professionals will make recommendations of what technologies to add and take care of the IT purchasing.
  • Installation: We can handle the installation of new software programs as well as hardware and equipment.
  • Implementation: Our professionals will ensure that the new technologies are integrated into your current IT environment and are ready to be used. We will also take care of security concerns so the new technologies can be used safely.
  • Migration: Once the new technologies are implemented, we can help migrate data to the new programs.
  • Maintenance: Our IT professionals provide ongoing maintenance to keep your IT infrastructure operating smoothly.
  • Support: If there is a problem with software or hardware within your system, we provide support to identify and resolve the issue.

What is Deployment in IT?

IT deployment is the installation and integration of new or updated software and hardware technology into an existing IT infrastructure.  The goal is to ensure that the new or updated software and hardware is integrated into the system so it can seamlessly access files, software, and devices that are part of the infrastructure.

Technology deployment can include installing and securing new software programs as well as adding new hardware and equipment such as computers, printers, monitors, and docking stations.

How to Do I Implement a New System in the Workplace?

First, you must determine what you need from your IT infrastructure and talk to an IT professional about your requirements.  The IT professionals will evaluate your current IT infrastructure and make a proposal for new technology or upgrades that will better meet your needs.  They will then procure the new software and hardware and inspect new equipment as soon as it comes in to make sure it is functional.  They will coordinate the replacement of equipment that arrives damaged or dysfunctional.

The software is then installed and secured and permissions and security are taken care of so it can be accessed from users within the system.  Hardware will be installed and connected so that those within the network can access it.  IT professionals will also install any software needed to run the new equipment and help transfer data and files.  The new technology and hardware will be tested to ensure that it is fully integrated into your system and ready to use.

What are the Different Types of Deployments?

There are three main types of technology deployment – on-premises IT infrastructure, third-party hosting, and cloud deployment:

  • On-premises IT infrastructure: On-premises IT infrastructure consists of all technology, including software and hardware, owned, operated, and monitored by a business or organization, including technology on the premises and off-premises technology leased and owned by the business. The deployment of new technology is done within the on-premises IT infrastructure and the IT procurement is taken care of by the business or organization.  Businesses can work with third-party IT professionals to help with the technology deployment.
  • Third-party hosting: Small businesses and organizations that cannot accommodate an on-premises IT infrastructure can work with a third-party IT professional to host certain technologies. Deployment of new technology is done by the third-party IT provider on their IT infrastructure, and they will also take care of the data storage, security monitoring, and application updates.
  • Cloud computing technology: Cloud computing involves hosting data and accessing computing services on the internet. The following are the three main cloud deployment models:
    • Private cloud: Private clouds are hosted within the private network of a business or organization and can only be accessed by authorized users on the network. Businesses and institutions own and operate their private clouds, but can work with third-party IT professionals to deploy, secure, and manage their clouds.
    • Public cloud: Public clouds are offered by cloud service providers on a pay-use basis. Commonly used public clouds include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure.  These clouds can be deployed as Infrastructure-as-a-Services (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Services (PaaS), and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).  Businesses can work with IT service providers to help set up and implement their public clouds.
    • Hybrid cloud: The hybrid cloud model consists of multiple cloud environments both public and private. In a hybrid cloud infrastructure, some APIs are needed to allow the public and private clouds to interact with each other.  IT professionals can help businesses and organizations deploy and maintain their hybrid cloud environment.
